Video freezes trying to record to dvd.

When I record to file, it works just fine. When I try to record to DVD, the audio seems normal and the video from VCR freezes. At that time it shows 700 and some frames and many many dropped frames. I tried to record and it recorded the frozen frame for a very short time.

Are you using the hard drive file to record to the DVD? If not, try that.

If yes, please share the project for analysis; that's the best way to sort out issues. The process is quick, easy, and can be private. Just follow these steps...

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. No need to upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

* Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Actually, I am capturing from a VHS tape and attempting to record directly to a DVD blank. It captures and records to file okay. I have a video of my attempt:

Try what was suggested above. Record a video file, then make a DVD of that file - in lieu of recording directly from the VHS source to the DVD.

A Movie Disc is the usual choice.

However, this is the Videopad interface, which may be different than Golden Videos. You can try VP as a trial.

If you upload the video file and link it here, it will be tested for a DVD burn.

I have other ways to burn dvd's from files. The reason I purchased Golden videos was so I could capture and burn dvd's directly. I have opened a ticket with the company and am not sure if they can help. I tried capturing a DVD video and it acts the same. I thank you for trying to help. They want me to spend more money for service and that is not an option as I am living on Social Security and this is just a hobby.

How is this wired? Does it employ a capture device, as specified for Golden Videos?
