Editing Text in a Pre-existing video

DavidLE

I am quite familiar with how to add text.

However, I cannot pull up the white editor box for a set of credits in an MP4 I'm trying to edit. I've even gone on Craigslist to find an answer and no one knows. How can this possibly be so complicated?

From the HOME tab... ... > ... >

If trying to edit existing text, double-click the text clip. That will launch the text editor.

Tried it a thousand times... all I can do is add new text, not edit existing?

Double-click the clip to open the text composer. Swipe what you want to change. Type in the new content.

Record_2025_02_10_12_08_00_540.mp4 If that doesn't work, let's see your project. That's the best way to sort things out. Just follow these steps to submit it here, or privately...

Share your project. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps...

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. No need to upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

* Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

And don't forget to change "restricted" to "anyone can view" if using Google Drive.

Sorry, I thought I was saving it to MS One Drive but I really saved it to my personal OneDrive (and NCH hasn't responded to my request).

Here is the link (it's a YouTube Trump satire... hope you're not a MAGA). See if you can change any text https://drive.google.com/file/d/19U31oDW1V-ZAuYL6ioc6U7DPTUk9l35c/view?usp=sharing

The titles in your linked file are embedded. There's no way to separate them from the video for editing.

If you have the project that created the video, then there should be no problem. THAT'S what's needed for your upload, as instructed earlier.

Or, if you have the animation - with no text - it can be added, to build a new project.

Had to give up and do the part I wanted to change from scratch. One last question, how do I do the fade in that I had orginally?
