Export of video file with added audio file doesn't work (empty .mp4 file)

I had a recording with lots of background noise but not the music. So I unlinked the audio from the video as shown in the tutorial.
Then I added the audio .mp3 file. In the Videopad project this is good and when I play the sequence it has both video and audio.
But when I export the video as video .mp4 file, the file is just 2kb and when I play it, it's empty.
How can I solve this?

Take a few minutes to share the project and someone will have a look. Most often, this solves issues. What VP version is being used? Look at the bottom-left of the window. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps...

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. No need to upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

* Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Your link is to an mp4 file. Video freezes about halfway through, then goes to black while music continues to the end.

It's just the same when exported. using a recent Windows release. Are you using a Mac PC?

Restart Videopad, then before loading the file, Go to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files and see if that helps.

What's needed is the project folder. Please follow the steps above and try again.

No Mac, it's an Asis ZenBook with Windows 10.

I did what you asked, but the clearing didn't help.

No, that's not the project folder. Step 1, above, creates that folder, to be uploaded.

That said, was able to export the project normally here, using the file in your earlier link.

Check the Personal Messager for the result. Click the mail envelope near the top-right of this forum.

To save the file to your PC, right-click the video and Save Video As.

I'm so sorry, I did what you said and so I don't understand why the project folder was not in the Google Drive.

How come you could export it correctly and I couldn't? What did I do wrong?

Apparently you uploaded only the VPJ file, which would have been included in the project folder, along with the source file, after doing step one, above.

13.46 is not listed in the released versions at the NCH file repository and your result cannot be replicated here. Try reinstalling Videopad.

Or, if yours was a purchased copy, download a later release that is dated within the six-month free upgrade period. When downloading ignore any virus warnings. After download, double-click on the file to install. It should recognize your license registration.

If you did not purchase, try the latest release.

Well, I've been struggling and made several intermediate files.

I had downloaded the free version of Videopad some time ago, and decided to purchase the pro version. After following your link "latest release" I now have VideoPad Professional v 16.58. So I hope that's the correct one.

And indeed, now I could export the file myself!!

Glad it worked out. If you downloaded from the link above you should have English version 16.57+.

There is a six-month free grace period to upgrade after purchase but there is no need to if it's working well. It won't expire.

You can always test drive the latest. Just hang on to the installer file that was purchased.

Ah, I took the Dutch version....
