My conditions for getting a new license

stebbinsd

I'm currently using versions 7.00-7.05. It's a very old license. So if I'm going to upgrade, and pay the extra $100 for it, here are my conditions:

Remove the "title text" default text whenever I open a text box. The text box should be blank by default. At the very least, I should have the option set a default text and/or remove the default text entirely in the options menu.
Move the snapshot button back to F11. Having to do shift+CTRL+F11 was a pain in the ass, compared to what I'm used to. At least let me adjust it in the settings.
Give me an option to remove the background from videos, instead of just one color. Nowadays, even MS Paint has that feature, so there's no excuse.
I tried the free, home version of v16.57, and when I play the video in the sequence, the audio plays in some deep, barely legible voice (sounds like slo mo). I didn't change any settings or apply any effects to the audio. It plays normally when I switch from sequence to clip. So get rid of that.

Now that I finally have a job outside the home, I have some disposable income so I'd be happy to pay for a new license again. But I need these features improved before I'd enjoy the software again.

1. "Title Text" is automatically selected, so it will vanish as soon as typing begins.

2. As you may know, an alternative to keystrokes for a snapshot, with resolution options, is to right-click in the preview window.

3. Paint removes a background from an image but doesn't make the BG transparent. WEB tools that can handle that - https://www.unscreen.com/upload

4. Have never seen that behavior in any release. Share the project that does it and someone will check it out.

Why can't I just have a blank text box? It would be so much simpler.
1. I'm not familiar with that. Can you give a video demonstration?
2. Yeah, but it replaces the background with a plain white background. From there, I can green screen the white out. So I see no reason why VideoPad can't do it with videos.

There's another feature I want: The ability to "export all sequences under these settings." Whenever I export all sequences, it sets a default file name as "Project name (sequence name)." That's usually fine for me. So when I set the resolution, framerate, and other export settings, I'm often left keeping my mouse in the same spot, over the "submit" button, and just click click click click click. If there was a box I could check in the export window that told VideoPad to "export all sequences under these settings," I could simply submit the export window once for the whole project, and then it would instantly export every sequence under the default file name, and with every other settings being how I set them before I exported the first sequence.

  It would be sooooooo convenient.

Also, can we fix the problem where export doesn't work at all until all the audio files have finished processing? I've got a couple of multi-hour-long gameplay videos that I'm using just as background for my video, so I don't need the audio from those videos in m finished product. Can we please make it so that exporting only doesn't work if the audio clips that are actually in sequences still haven't finished processing? And even then, give me the option to proceed with exporting anyway as long as I know the risk.

1. Why that would be simpler isn't clear, as the words vanish as soon as anything new is entered. Seeing the initial text line positioning can be helpful.

Right-click in the preview window and make your choice. A snap can be grabbed from the clip or the sequence, whichever is active.

3. If there's good contrast between the subject and the background, and no background color is in the subject, then Chromakey can eliminate any BG color. But no, it doesn't cut out the subject. File a suggestion.

Export all Sequences does require a click on each, to allow for changing the file name or settings. If no change, then export settings for all will be identical.

Huge files can take time to process. Consider downsizing them while retaining reasonable resolution.

Or strip the audio from those files prior to loading the project. VP can be used for either approach, or try an online app. Search for "audio remover."

Right, so why can't I just export all the sequences in one go if I'm content with that?

borate

File a suggestion to incorporate that feature in the future.

stebbinsd

If I'm copying and pasting text from notepad directly into VideoPad, the "title text" isn't automatically removed.

Also, even in 16.57, you still have the feature where, if I select ctrl+A to select all text, and then press the backspace key, it immediately reverts to default arial font, size 8, black text. It shouldn't revert like that. It should just keep the settings I already have set.

Using 16.57, when pasting from Notepad, "Title Text" is removed here...

To delete all text in the composer, use <ctrl-A>, then right-click in the window and click DELETE. Settings will not be changed.

If you're truly bent on automating Export All, configure a macro app to handle it.

Where can I get one of these macro apps?

How likely is it that they'll actually read and respond to this suggestion?

It's my understanding that suggestions are read. Responses, can't say.

Here's a simple, free macro recording utility. Takes some getting used to, but does the job.

Attached for download, the macro that produced the result above. Before running it, the Export All Files window must be on screen.

Export_All.m2s

Also, don't you mean "micro?" Macro is the antonym to micro. Macro economics, for example, studies the economy on a statewide, nationwide, and even global scale, whereas micro economics focuses on the economy within one's own municipality.

An app that's literally less than 1kB and less than 2kb certainly feels like the latter in terms of computer software.

Definition and Purpose

A macro is a sequence of computer instructions that can execute multiple commands with a single action
It makes programming tasks less tedious and less error-prone by reducing repetitive code

stebbinsd

So once I'm ready to run the macro, do I just double click on the m2s file and we're off?

borate

Have the Export All window on the screen, then click the m2s file. The macro will launch. Press the PLAY button.
If it doesn't work, program a macro. Use the <enter> key to trigger each export, in lieu of clicking the Create button.

If the MRPlay module of the macro recorder has been configured to start with Windows, then that module can be configured to autorun the macro, skipping the need to click PLAY.

This thread is drifting off-topic from VP issues. Experiment with the recorder's options.

I’ve run into that default title text thing too, and it slows me down more than it should. If NCH doesn’t add a toggle soon, one workaround is saving your own blank text preset so you can drop it in without cleanup. I do that while keeping an eye on sites such as https://pedirayudas.com for quick, practical info without the fuss.
