Videopad less and less stable as more objects added

This software is getting worse and worse as I progress to nearly 95% complete. Started off reasonably ok with a few crashes, but over all ok. But as I keep going it is now unworkable for some edits.

Firstly the Simple Text Overlay is stuck on the same settings - so if i try to change the font or size then it immediately reverts to the same values, and so cannot be edited...that goes for ALL of the STO. None of them can be updated.

Secondly, the location of a STO cannot not be moved to the bottom of the screen, it remains at the top stuck. There are 3-4 other objects that can been moved ok on the same page.

I have tried creating them on a new track, or doing a cut and paste to another track, etc. It was working ok early on but not now. This is very disappointing as i have done heaps of time on this project and now it just can't handle the load!

Also found that if a copy and paste an object, but delete one of them then both get deleted! So I have to create 2 of the same.

I am on prof version 16.57.

Has anyone experienced this as well? Any suggestions?

What are your PC's specs: CPU/GPU/RAM?
What is the length of the project?
What is the resolution, format and size of the bulk of the source files?

Prior to making changes in the composer, select (hightlight) the text. With the composer open, text can be dragged in the preview window...

If using Google Drive, don't forget to make the switch to "anyone can view."...
Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. No need to upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
    Share ---    Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, the AS choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.   That way you're protected, and shouldn't lose anything.

Apologies borate for a late reply. I am not willing to upload and share my vid, so I understand that there is not much hope of resolving the bugs.

I have perserved with it to the end. So i have been able to complete the Project.

Here are the bugs:

It will randomly reclass a Text object to a Video object, so if i want to go edit the text then it is impossible, i have to delete that video object and readd it again as a Text object.
Still cannot move a Simple Text Overlay for some objects. Most do move but some stuck up the top of the screen. The settings are stuck ie: font/size/etc for each new object, and i cannot update them, except for the text. However text size is minute and hard to read in the editor, but comes out ok on the screen.
I have had objects randomly disappear on some tracks...but i suspect its to do with 1 above.

Overall the software is great, but still some bugs persist. I will start fresh with the next project, as i admit that poor project management may have contributed to some issues.

1. Never have seen that reported.

2. Be sure to select (highlight) the text before making font, color, edging changes.

3. Hard to analyze without seeing the project which you can submit privately. No one else will ever see it.

Just click the envelope near the top-right of the window and send a Personal Message, along with specifics on exactly what you have attempted to change in the project.

Can you tell me how to merge 2 vpj files together please?

If i create a Project 1 then it creates sequence 1. I want to use this short 10 sec vid to the front of all my vids.

So then I create Project 2 for the middle part. I am not sure how to merge these.

I start off and load Project 1, then do Add Files Video for the vpj file for Project 2...however it seems to automatically create an additional sequence [for Project 2] instead of remaining in the Videos bin. I was then going to drag this onto a Video Track but it is not in the Video bin. So ok I am fine if there are now 2 sequences with both my Projects, but how do I merge them...how do I add Project 2 to the end of Project 1, or seq 2 to the end of seq 1?

Importing from another project creates a new sequence, as you note, with its clips added to the bin. VPJ files cannot be merged.

To get what you want, simply export sequence 1. Now it's a clip that can be added to future projects.

Alternatively, after importing another project, select sequence 2 with <ctrl-A>. Copy it with <ctrl-C>

Then switch to sequence 1 and paste at the desired point with <ctrl-V>..
