Suppose I have a video and split it in two places, resulting in Part1, Part2, and Part3. And suppose my goal is to remove Part2 and move the beginning of Part3 to the end of Part1. If I use the delete key, the delete command, ripple delete, or cut in any way to make this happen, then the Part2 audio is removed as desired, but the Part3 video beginning becomes the Part2 video beginning. That is, the Part3 video is not relocated. Instead, its start time is moved along the timeline of the original video.
I did find an apparent work-around. NEVER delete or cut Part2. Instead, leave it intact, and slide Part3 over the top of it.
