File corruption

KarolCz

Hi,
I have full legal Debut licence

Until recently everything worked fine ( I am recording from webcam). Since a few days recordings are corrupted. I noticed some files I am able to playback from Debut right after finishing the recording but:

- any other playback software is not ablet (Windows media player, VideoPad, WavePad (for audio only). Camera settings unchanged, output format unchanged (mp4)

- when I upload it to my other PC even Debut installed on the other PC is not able to play them.

Please help

Install the latest version. For one-time licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. Retain your old install file and registration info. If there's an issue, you can always revert.

If corruption persists, please share a bad file. Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, right-click the link and Share or Copy. Copy the result and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, click SHARE | SHARE and change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view.**

Hi borate, thank you for a prompt answer.

I will try to update the app in a moment and let you know if it fixed the problem

meanwhile I somehow managed to hijack the working mp4 file prior to the corruption,

I don't know how to respond to you only... there is nothing secret on this recording thoug

Thank you,

More of strange behaviour....
I recorded new (short) mp4

checked if it works right away with Debut - works fine

copy the file to spare location - not working with WMP (windows media player)

checked the original file with WMP - not working

back to Debut - file corupted .... I begin suspecting there is something wrong with my pc/windows instead

Of your two files, the one named "2untitled" plays - the other does not.

Reboot the PC, for a fresh start.

Most probably I found a reason. the 1TB SD card I was recording is not a 1TB but a fake one.... files are being corrupted by the SD card probably.

Since you mentioned that Debut can play the file right after recording, but no other software can, it suggests that the file might not be finalized or properly written to disk. I’d recommend checking if there are any updates for Debut, reinstalling the software, or testing different output settings (like using a different codec or format). Additionally, try testing the recordings on another video player or re-encoding them to see if the issue persists.
