Help! How to isolate accidentally overdubbed vocal track

I used MixPad to record a single vocal track over an instrumental track. I did several takes, muting previous ones, to get the best take.

The instrument track I was recording over had faintly audible traces of the vocals that were removed from the original. On my last take, I thought that was what I was hearing. In reality, I did not realize I was overdubbing over myself. I just assumed that when recording on a track, it would erase anything previous.

I saved the whole project, and now there is no way now to go back.

The overdubbed track contained great material and I would like to be able to isolate it or separate the two somehow.

What about the files that are saved in the log? Would it be in there? Would it be worth purchasing Wav Pad to be able to upload those and see if it is in there?

Any advice is appreciated!

There may be an earlier incarnation of the project if it was Saved AS routinely, with a unique name or #...

Open the MixPad software, then go to File > Open and navigate to the location where you saved your project file (which will have a ".mpdp" extension); select the project file to open it and access your saved work. If you don't know the location, do a PC search for "mpdp."

Wavepad can be installed as a trial, where most features will be usable for a short time.
