Considering that the PC apparently had a problem, it's conceivable that the VPJ save file was corrupted. Look for another in this path...
[C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\VideoPad\autosave.vpj.](http://C:%5CUsers%5C%5Buser%20name%5D%5CAppData%5CRoaming%5CNCH%20Software%5CVideoPad%5Cautosave.vpj.)
If that doesn't succeed, do a PC search for VPJ and click on the most recent find. You may have to do some rebuilding, but the project state when saved will be restored.
Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, the AS choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. That way you're protected, and shouldn't lose anything.
