Red thingy keeps moving to the wrong spot

Hi there,

Vs 16.38, but there's another issue I think. I just registered this on my new computer a couple of months ago & it keeps showing me the registration option under "file" when I already registered it. I just put in the key again & it's still showing it even though it said it was successful. That's here. https://i.imgur.com/0XqxyxZ.png

So I'm not sure what's going on. I usually don't work only with audio, but I have before (to make it into a video), & never had this problem.

I had an issue at the end where I had to drag the red thingy (what's the correct term for it? LOL) to the left where the end of the audio was so I could cut the last image. Normally I just click on one of the right arrow keys & it goes there itself, but this time it was going to the end of the image, not the end of the audio file. Then I clicked on the left arrow to the beginning so I could test the beginning of the video, & it won't play at the beginning, it keeps moving the red thingy to the right & then playing from there. Very strange.

Install this release and see if the problems persist.

If so, please share the project and someone will check it out...

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Right-click the file and click SHARE. If using Google, right-click the file, click SHARE | SHARE. Change "restricted" to "anyone ... can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK or OK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately. It won't be shared.

* Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Ok, now it's working, but then I had some wonky issues that I don't really understand. I expanded the view to make sure that images & audio lined up, & it kept expanding (width wise) the audio, but not the images. Maybe it's supposed to that. THEN the buttons changed order LOL

Now the play button is on the left instead of in the center where it's been for years. SMH - https://i.imgur.com/WLQes8S.png

Anyway, I'm exporting it b/c those issues don't affect the video (I hope).

You likely reinstalled. Each install of the same VP release may subtly alter the interface, strange as that may seem. Reinstalled several times here, and the Play button was relocated. This can take several tries, and there's no need to download again.

If there's still an issue with a jumping red cursor when hitting PLAY - submit the project and we'll check it out.

Thanks, but WHY did they move the play button??? I don't like it that way.

I can never remember which backward & forward arrow does, & I only knew b/c of the play button being in the middle.

It's been this way for years. 🙁

Just reinstall - perhaps several times - and the button should be back where you want it. No need to download VP again.
