Imported video files turn to audio files as soon as they are imported in the program

The video files I import into Videopad for editing are all changed to audio files as soon as they hit the program. This includes change of the label 'Video files' into 'audio files'.

I'm a 66 year old beginner and please don't send me any serious tech stuff because I would go bananas. Simple explanation will do if at all possible.

That has been seen with certain files. What is the origin and format of these files?

Please share a single file and someone here will look into it. It's not difficult if these steps are followed...

Upload the file to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, right-click the link and Share. (In OneDrive click Copy Link.)

Copy the result and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view.**

I would like to add this clarification: This happens to about a tenth of the videos I try to edit, with both Videopad and VSDC. They are all mp4 files. They have all been downloaded with WinX youtube downloader. There are no problems with videos of other formats, just with some mp4 files, mostly recent songs. Also I must explain that I am a Belgian pensioner living in Bujumbura, Burundi, for most of the year; where I accompany my wife who works at the Belgian embassy here.

I'll try to follow the steps borate indicated to allow him to look at one of these files. As an example : Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso (Official Video).mp4. Maybe there's some kind of edit-protection on them. In VSDC the song plays hackled with continuous short interruptions and in Videopad as soon as imported, the file changes from video file to audio file.

Have tried downloading the clip from Youtube with FREEMAKE and ULTIMATE. In both cases the music plays flawlessly. Leaves me to check if the not editable files might perhaps be part of an album or a set. The clip is coming your way as soon as I figured out how to send it following your guidelines.

Another NLE sees the file as audio as well, and several viewers can't handle it. So this must be a file issue. Why it's only "a tenth" of those that were downloaded is a mystery.

You might opt for a screen grab instead of a file download. Debut can do that.

'A tenth' is only an illustration of what's happening. Might be less, might be more. Checking if the clips are part of an album or a set proved to be a dead end. Most of my perfectly playing clips are downloaded with WinX as part of an album or a set.

Ok, moving further on into the IT world and will try the screen grab (new word for me) as suggested.

My problem is solved. The culprit here is the WinX downloader. I am using the ByClick downloader now and all my problems are gone. About 10 usd for limitless use by two pc's. Very happy with this solution.
