I want to install new version of videopad, shall I pay again?

When I bought my Video pad version, it was a lifetime license, and not subscription or renew and re-buy each time. I have now version 13.08 and I get the message each time I open it to download the newer version but it warns that I have to save my older version as I might have to pay for the new version.

As my license is lifetime, shall I pay again for this new version, or can I download and intall it without worry about new payments?

There's a six-month free update window after purchase. After that, a fee is charged. Many updates are maintenance releases - fixes and perhaps an added feature.

But there's no mandate to update, and as you say, your version is good for 'life.' So, if it works well for you, consider sticking with it.

You can check out the latest, unlicensed, to see if it offers anything interesting. That trial should be full featured for a short time. Save your purchased installer.

How much should I pay for the new upgrade. I am willing to pay if it is a one off payment and not subscription based. My version as I say above is 13.08. What is the newest version and do you suggest I upgrade? I don't use it much, and up till now I have been happy, the only thing is that it is very slow to process my clips from my Osmo Action 3 camera and sometimes it takes one hour to be ready for editing as it is still processing the video.

If you purchase, download the 64-bit current release, which can be registered via the Menu (top-left). It may be faster than the 32.

The release that is offered on the VP WEBpage may or may be 32 or 64-bit - it varies from time to time.

Only you can assess whether an update is worthwhile - perhaps by comparing an Osmo project on both the old and new versions.

Video editing, especially with large or hi-def file, is resource intensive. For those projects, a gaming-class PC is often recommended.

thanks a lot for your good advice. I will go with the new version, hopefully it will work better. My comptuer is top class very powerful PC but even on this computer the files from Osmo Action 3 camera don't run well on videopad. Hopefully the new version will work better.

Share a project that doesn't run well for analysis. It may help developers. If the project is huge, just delete a portion of it and submit what's left.

Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.

Then follow these steps closely...

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Get a public link. Right-click the file and click SHARE. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared.

* Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
