I'm new to speech-to-text but I thought it might come in handy when I'm having trouble with audio that is not the best. Anyway, I went into Speech-to-Text and the "Enable Speech Recognition" is checked. My Engine is "Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows (English-US)" and my Default Profile is my name, so that's set up. I click OK.
Then I load my dictation file I want to be transcribed.
How long should it take for a 36:00 minute file to be transcribed???
When I look in the Notes window, a bunch of text appears, however, it is NOTHING like the audio I just uploaded whatsoever. WTF??? I have listened to the beginning of the audio and what is showing in the text window is NOT what is on the audio, at all, not even close. I mean, I see one or two WORDS at the most that I recognize from the audio (lieutenant commander, China, wordsmith) but for cripe's sake it's like it just put into text a bunch of gobbly gook that isn't even CLOSE to what the audio actually is! OMG!
I'd be better off transcribing it myself and leaving what will inevitably be a lot of "blanks" than to try to figure out what the hell Express Scribe just spit out.
What am I doing wrong? Did I do something wrong? WTH? Please HELP!
