One approach...
Begin a new, blank project and program a text clip. Label it "master."
Right-click it in the bin (top-left) and COPY.
Use <ctrl-V> to paste it into the bin 12 times. They will be numbered from (1) through (12).
Click each clip in turn, open the text editor that's under the preview window, swipe the word "master" and replace it with sequential numbers.
Export this sequence as "text_overlays" (or whatever).
To use this .vpj project file in any project already on the timeline, click the Menu, then FILE | IMPORT CLIPS FROM ANOTHER PROJECT...
The text clips are under the Images tab. Chose each individually for placement.
You can delete the empty sequence that the import creates.
