USB phones

I'm interested in using a USB phone with ExpressTalk, but not the Express USB phone as sold by NCH. Does anyone have any experience of using other phones (there seem to be many on the market, but most are targetted at skype)

Hi,

I have the same problem, most of USB phone sold are Skype blocked, even if they write on the box "compatible with skype" this mean : "works only with skype" and cannot work with sip or other !! Examples : Doro 215, Olitec, D-Link VOIP Phone Adapter.

The only one I found which is working well with Express talk is Trust PH-2200. And more, this Trust device is seen by Express talk as an Express USB phone .

the underlying issue is that there is no real standardization of USB phones, and therefore we have no idea what will and won't work with our software. The only reason our recommended one works at all is because we wrote a driver for it.

I just picked up a tigerjet based RJ11 to USB box (http://www.tjnet.com/solutions/usb_to_rj11_adaptor.htm) and I wish I could get it to work with expresstalk. It almost does, but not quite. Using the audio setup wizard, when I talk in the mic, express talk hears it, but when expresstalk sends the test clip to the phone, I hear nothing. This tigerjet chip appears to be becoming more popular. They have an SDK, and are supported directly by xten (xlite, eyebeam), skype, and voipbuster. What would it take to get this gadget to work with expresstalk (which is obviously superior to all those other solutions)?

I've got Express Talk set up with my USB Telbox so I can make calls via my cordless phone. I've set up Express Talk as using the Express USB Phone and it works well. To make a VOIP call I press * phone number #

Question is when I don't press * and just want to dial out on my PSTN line Express Talk still sets up a SIP call along side the PSTN call. How can I stop Express Talk from doing this?
