"In Crescendo, lyrics only move together when each syllable is properly attached to a note on the same lyric “verse.” If a line suddenly starts on a new, unconnected text object, moving one will not move the other because they are separate lyric items rather than one continuous lyric line.
Why the lines are not connected
- A lyric is “linked” to a specific note by a vertical guideline that points to the notehead as you place it.
- If you start typing lyrics somewhere that does not show that vertical guideline, Crescendo treats it as a separate text object, not part of the same lyric sequence.
How to reconnect lyrics to notes
To reconnect or fix a line that is not following the notes, you essentially need to re‑attach it so that each syllable has that vertical guideline to a note.
Try this:
Activate the Lyrics tool
- Click the Lyrics tool in the Text Toolbox on the right side of the screen.
Re‑attach the “new” line to the notes
Delete the problem, unlinked lyric segment if necessary (right‑click → Delete).
With the Lyrics tool active, move the mouse under the first note where that “new” line should begin.
Make sure you see:
A horizontal guideline (showing the lyric line position), and
A vertical guideline pointing to the notehead (this is what “connects” the lyric to the note).
Click to create the lyric and type the text.
Continue the line properly
Use the Spacebar or hyphen key to advance each syllable to the next note instead of starting a new text object.
This keeps the entire line as one continuous, connected lyric verse that will move with the notes.
If the lyrics are placed but off‑line
If the syllables are attached to notes but misaligned with the rest of the verse:
- Use the Selection Tool (Escape key) to select and drag the lyric text slightly so it visually lines up with the other lyrics.
- The attachment to the note remains, so they will still move correctly with the music.
Adding a second verse vs. new line
If by “new page and start a new line” you really meant starting another verse under the same notes:
- Double‑click the first lyric of the verse you already entered.
- In the lyric editor, press Enter to start a new verse line, then type the second verse; Crescendo will align verses under the same notes as part of one lyric structure.
If you describe exactly what your “old” and “new” lines look like (for example, same verse, different verse, or different staff), more precise step‑by‑step instructions can be given."
