Video card - does it matter ?

I hope this is not too daft a question, but does the computer's video card have any influence on the quality of the videos I create ? The other day I removed my ATI video card because it was giving me problems, so now I'm running with the on-board Intel video graphics. Looks to work fine for me, but I'm just a little apprehensive about possible effects on VideoPad.

Rendering and export speeds can be affected by whether Videopad can take advantage of GPU capabilities. Quality should be comparable.

I've compared that software (CPU) rendering actually is better than hardware rendering in terms of quality, if you're nitpicking like I am. But speed will be the cost.
