Recording video and sound only coming out on left side

I am recording a new video directly into VideoPad. When I play it back the sound only comes out of the left side.

If I use only the "record audio" option, the sound comes through on the left and right as expected.

When you say "recording a new video" - is this video a file that contains video and audio? What format? Share the file here...

Someone will check it out. Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."

Install the current release and see if it does the same. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.

Be sure that the balance slider at the left of the audio track is centered.

If it's still an issue, open the file in WavePad. Ignore the option to open in Videopad.

Click the STEREO button,

Click the caret and from the drop-down menu choose MONO. Click CONVERT and save the file. Back in Videopad, unlink the audio by right-clicking on the clip and making that choice. Then substitute the MONO file for the original.

I have installed the latest version and applied my license today.

I am just now testing to verify my options for my incoming sound and I plan to try to record a video of me singing and playing guitar.

I am recording directly into VideoPad using a scarlett solo which is plugged into a mac computer through the USB.

I also noticed that if I also plug in my guitar to the scarlett line 2 the audio and guitar are both recorded when creating the video however, the vocal [microphone] is only playing back on the left side and the guitar is only playing on the right.

So, it seems like VideoPad is receiving the audio as line 1 = left and line 2 = right.

I am not sure how to configure this in VideoPad.

No MAC or Scarlett here to test, but we may be able to sleuth if you record both vocal and guitar, then save the project. Share it here or in private. Just follow these steps...

Share your project. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps...

Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared.

* Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Your voice is on the left, but very softly, with guitar at the right. Might this be a function of Scarlett? Check with them on options for a MONO output from each line.

The mix can be achieved post production though...

UNlink the audio. Right-click and Save Audio Clip As New File. On the MAC, open that file with Wavepad and follow the instructions above.

Individual channels can be edited for volume, EQ, etc., to achieve the desired mix, then exported as MONO.
