OPTIONS | DISK tab | Clear Unused Cache Files. Do this before beginning a new project.
That should clear all files. If done during editing, only unused files will be purged.
You may need more disc space. Note the Cache Folder path in the options window. That can be changed to point to another drive - preferably an SSD or better.
