Retained earnings

Using 10.14 on Mac. Default chart of accounts does not include retained earnings account. At the fiscal year end date (Preferences--> Accounting) how does the system zero income and expense accounts and post the net result to Retained Earnings (if it does not exist).

Hello, and currently Express Accounts does not offer a report for retained earnings, nor a specific account for it on the default chart of accounts.
