There are numerous ways to place video on the timeline sequence.
One is to select the clip in the bin (top-left), then move the red cursor in the preview window to the start point. Click the Set Srart button. Move to the end. Click the Set End button. Then click the ADD button and the clip will be dropped to the timeline.
Right-click on the chevron to the right of the ADD button for various positioning choices. In this way various sections of the master clip can be chosen and dropped, individually, on the timeline.
To eliminate gaps between clips, right-click in the gap and CLOSE GAP. Storyboard mode easily spots gaps, as long as the sequence is a single track.
