Rename Audio Clip does not change file name on disk

I added an audio clip to my project. Then I pressed F2 to rename it. The rename dialog completed successfully, in that the name of the clip was changed within the project.

But the name of the clip did not change on my hard drive.

Is this the expected behavior, or is it a bug?

I am using VideoPad 10.26.

Expected. Changes made to files copied to Videopad are non destructive and do not affect the source files on the drive.

Thanks for the clarification. Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense!
