Video recording

I am just recording my old videos from my VHS Video Recorder to a hard disk which works perfectly. The only problem is that during recording there is no tone (which is of course when I watch the copy recorded on the harddisk) - so it makes no sense to watch the film during recording. Has anyone an idea how I can solve that problem?

When you state "no tone" do you mean no sound during the VHS transfer? If that's the case, try this...

Open Control Panel/Sound/Recording tab/Line/Properties/Listen tab/Check 'Listen to this device.'

Yes, I mean the sound. As I am quite new in that and as I use the German language please explain how/where to open the control panel - is it in the main window of the VideoPad or in the window which opens for recording?

It's the Windows operating system Control Panel.

Depending upon what version is in use you should be able to open it by typing "Control Panel" into the Windows search box at the bottom left of the screen. Then <enter>.

In Windows 11, click the START button. A box pops up, with "search here..." the top. Type "Control Panel."

First thank you sofar for your support! I am using windows 10 and came up to the window with 4 tabs: play (Abspielen), record, sound, communication - but there is no further possibility as described by you!?

In your case, click Recording tab. Then whatever item has the green checkmark.

Click the Properties button (bottom-right). A new window appears. Click the Listen tab.

Check the Listen to this device box. Here, it looks like this...
