Intermittent sound capture

I have been using debut v6.11 for some time now. Capturing video from a VHS player. Initially I had no sound either in preview or on record. It then worked for some time. Now about to record a new set of tapes I find, again, that no sound is being recorded. I have not made any changes to the settings in either Debut or Windows10.

Any ideas?

In the Options of Debut go to the 'Video' tab and confirm that "Capture Device" is being recognized.
Select the sound device associated with that capture card.
Also check that the volume slider for that output in the Recording Control window is set to an acceptable level.
Open the Windows Volume Control mixer by clicking the loudspeaker icon on the computer's system tray, and check to see that your selected device is not muted.
