External Scarlett 6i6 mixer for sound

I have a Scarlett 6i6 mixer for my DAW. Is there a way to use that for Video Pad, instead of the microphone on my camera: that sucks? Or is there a suggested interface for better sound. I want to record music and sometimes I would rather not have to use my DAW and then match it up.

Patch the mixer into the PC (LINE input). Videopad can record from it directly, outputting a WAV file. The RECORD button appears under the HOME and AUDIO menu tabs.

Record volume will depend upon PC output loudness. Best to have it peak only occasionally in the red. But the WAV file can be adjusted later via audio effects.
