wma conversion on Mac OSX?

when I try to convert wma files to any other format I get the error:

“Cannot open the file -pathname-. Check it exists and you have read access.”

Does switch actually convert wma files in Mac OSX?

I've got the exact same problem; tried fiddling with all the read and write tags and conversion to different file types... Nothing works.

This guy claims that what we're trying to do works. I have submitted the comment below:

I would LOVE to buy this product but it just does not convert files in the WMA format with my Mac OS 10.3.

I've done everything the Help menu and documentation suggests and that still does not solve the problem. I just get the error message:

“Cannot open the file -pathname-. Check it exists and you have read access.” .

DANG! I do have "read access" to these WMA files and they play on Windows Media Player just fine.

I am NOT trying to convert copy-protected files in the WMA format....These are WMA recordings of my own voice from my Olympus "Voice-Trek_V50" which records natively in the WMA format. Sheesh.

I had the same problem as others have reported here.

It is priced at a relatively reasonable $10.

I am using it to convert files recorded on an Olympus voice recorder so that I can listen to them with Express Scribe transcribing software which is also offered free by NCH.

Why not try adding the wma files to iTunes which will convert them to aac files. Then you can open the aac files and do whatever converting you want to them. Slower yes, but free.

You can't open WMAs with iTunes.

Something funny to me is that converting WMA files is ALL that I use Switch for.
