Creating a Highlight Clip

Hi. I was wondering if VPE is able to generate a highlight clip from a video project. Thanks for your help

If the clip isn't available for download, capture it. Debut is worth a look.

Then the result can be imported to VP, edited and exported.

Hi Borate, I'm not sure I completely understand. I've finished editing my video in VPE 7.11 I was looking to try and create a highlight reel. Can VPE generate it?

If you have completed editing, you can export in any number of formats. Is that what you want to do? If not, explain what this "highlight" reel is and where it will be viewed.

My final video is one hour long. A highlight clip would be something like 3 to 5 minutes long of a random selection of parts of the video.

Exactly. Load the final video. Make your edits, removing the unwanted sections. Export the final. This would be the new "highlight" reel.

Ah! You mean a Trailer! The world is your oyster!. You have finished and exported you project. You have your clips in the bin. Use effects to animate/split screen/ Dramatic titles, dissolves between selected sequences; dramatic music. etc.Think of those old trailers of yesteryear.😃 Have you had a look at templates?

(Or just split up your project as Borate suggests and create a truncated version.)

Hi Nat and Borate, I most definitely used the wrong terminology. Trailor is what I should have used. I have a Sony FDRax53 and it has a feature that allow for the auto creation of a "Highlight" video. I can set some parameters and create a 3-5 minute video in the camera before I download the full video to the PlayMemories desk app from Sony.

I'll take a look at the templates you suggest and get back to you.

VP won't do automatic editing. The creativity is in your hands. ^_
