Fermata is upside down

I'm trying to place a fermata on a whole note, but I can't get it to go above the notes, instead of below. I know that they usually go opposite of wherever the stems are facing, but I can't change the stems, due to them being whole notes. Is there anything I can do?

If you right-click on the whole note and select Stemp, you will have the option to set it either up or down. If the stemp is down, the fermata is placed up, and if the stem is up, the fermata goes below the note. There is no way to place the stemp up and the fermata above the note.
