.wma files

[deleted]

I downloaded trail copy of switch to convert .wma audiobook files to MP3 files for listening. I have a Mac OSX 10.3.9. When I launch "Switch", I try to Browse to the folder that have .wma audiobook files and the program won't recognize the files. They are greyed out. What is going on?

Thanks

josh

I purchased Switch because it advertised on its WEB site that it supported converting .wma files to other formates such as MP3 and .wav, and that there was a version available for OS X. I had similar problems to those of Josh and Joe below. A more careful reading of the NCH WEB site (take the other formats link) indicates that Switch only supports .wma files in its WINDOWS version. I will probably find applications to use Switch, but I am disappointed. NCH should strongly consider supporting cross-platform conversions.

Given that QuickTime does not support .wma, and Switch will not write .wma files, I get the idea that there must be a patent or licensing issue involved. Does anyone have a lead on an OS X application that does convert .wma files to any other standard format that could then be used in Switch to get to a desired format?

Quicktime supportinng WMAs:

Switch converting WMAs:

I mean, I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but these things you say don't work, in fact, do. I don't get what the big deal is about people not being able to use WMAs on a Mac. The software is everywhere. I was able to convert WMAs with Switch the first time I downloaded it.
