Express Scribe freezes

Express Scribe suddenly freezes and stops responding, so I have to close Express Scribe to get it working. Sometimes hitting the goback pedal or just tapping the foot pedal will cause it to work. This is very annoying and time consuming. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I get the same thing when trying to complete a job. Sometimes it completes quickly, sometimes it hangs up so long I have to turn the program off and do it again (and again).
