To get the fix in the beta version, existing users need to delete all the components to get the old codec replaced.

If you don't bother to do this please wait for the upcoming release.

Version 7.01 loaded.

My .avi files now load fully as far as video is concerned (Thanks), but the soundtrack only loads as far as about 5m 56s.

It loads fully on other types of files: .wmv, .mp4.

OK, after several attempts, I've done that. The soundtrack works fine, although appears far longer than the video (1:10:06 against 0:46:44).

What's the next stage? I don't feel I can create mp3 files for all my unedited videos; there are 300+ hours of raw footage.

No clue why the mp3 is longer; 1:10:06 is the length shown when the original AVI is loaded into WavePad.

Developers are aware of the VP audio issue.

I've just realised, playing the tape, that the sound is not running at the same speed as the video, and my early comments on the soundtrack itself are very distorted.

Not surprised. There are decoding issues (in this case the length discrepancy) with that file type that are being addressed.

Please check out the beta version (need to wait until it updates to 7.02).

The audio issue should be also fixed.

If it was meant to say NO need to wait until it updates to 7.02, then the audio issue is not fixed on the version I've downloaded and tried.

You probably know already but the version you are currently using is indicated at the bottom left of the VP screen. If you click the tiny chevron at the right of the blue Help Question mark at the top of the screen you should see in the menu options "Check for Updated Version" Click this to obtain info.

Believe that the intent was to wait for release of beta 7.02.

Although the pre-release site lists a specific version, that's often just a placeholder.

When you download look at the version # before installing. When 7.02 pops up, then install.

I've tried it, and all seems to be working fine - video import, audio import, edit, and export.

I suppose I have to wait for this version to go live before taking up your fellow's offer of a free licence, as that only goes to 7.01 currently.

Glad the issue was solved. If you get a complimentary license, chances are it will be good for six months of free upgrades, just as if you had purchased.
