Stereo audio

Did I just imagine this, or did stereo audio tracks used to show as such on the timeline?

As independent left and right channels? Don't think so. As a single waveform, yes.

Maybe you got used to editing on Sony Vegas, which is an editing software that allows for editing both audio channels independently.

It would be cool if VideoPad could do it too, though. xD

Is there any good reason to show waveform for each channel?

What about video files with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound?

I think most do show stereo audio waveforms. I've used a lot of video editors, I must of been thinking of a different one.

Checked out another well-rated prosumer editor that displays the same single waveform as VP - unless its limited-feature WAVE editor is launched.

Videopad does that integration better, IMO, using the more sophisticated WavePad app.

In Videopad, right-click on the audio track, click EDIT IN WAVEPAD, and in its View menu choose WAVE|STEREO VIEW.
