Output avi files are extremely large

I use this software in a few PC's. In one of the PC's the output avi files are extremely large(like 1GB for a minuit of recording).

Does anyone know why and also, how to fix that?

Record in .mp4 format rather than .avi format. At the bottom left of the Debut start screen look for 'Record Screen As' . Click the down arrow and choose mp4.

I use mp4 too - it's easier to edit, as well as resulting in smaller files. 1GB/min seems outlandish though Are you screen-capturing HD? Full screen? Check your quality settings.

A 30-minute recording of a non-HD screen gives me files of 160-250,000KB, depending what's going on and whether it's night (monochrome, obviously) or day.

Mp4 is MUCH BETTER. But, be careful. Some video editors have 2 mp4 output flavors: h.264 AVC mp4, and h.265 HEVC mp4. YouTube does NOT ACCEPT h.265 HEVC mp4. The mp4 output from NCH Prism Video File Converter IS h.264.
