Video editing is resource intensive; more RAM might help.
In VP, under the TOOLS menu|OPTIONS|DISK tab, click the "clear unused cache files" button.
In Windows, Control Panel|ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS|DEFRAGMENTER, defragment the drive.
From an elevated command prompt, type "chkdsk /f" (no quotes) <enter>. It may prompt
that it cannot check because the system is in use; do you want to check at next boot?
Click YES and reboot. Let it go through its paces, verifying the file structure on disk.
Depending upon the operating system, you may invoke the command prompt via START button|
ALL PROGRAMS|ACCESSORIES folder. Right-click on the Command Prompt and click "run
as administrator."
