Currently there is no supported way to access Windows or Mac Express Invoice data from the iPad version, or vice-versa. This is a function that is on the to-do list of the developers, but there is no ETA available for this function.
The Web Access feature available in both the Windows and Mac versions of Express Invoice will allow you to to access the data remotely with any browser over the Internet. Simply use <a href="" rel="">http://<your</a> public IP address or domain name>|<port> once you setup web access within Express Invoice. The port is determined by the port you enter when you set up Express Invoice web access. Your router may need to be configured to port forward for that port, depending on how your internal network is configured. This way you can access the data not only from a mobile device but also from any other computer connected to the Internet. Please note that the computer where Express Invoice is installed will need to be running with Express Invoice also running (in the background at minimum) in order to access the program across the Internet.
Some customers have been using an unsupported manual way to move data between platforms. This is not supported by NCH Software and you should save a backup of both systems before proceeding in case data is lost or becomes corrupted in any way during the following process.
1) Create a backup to the cloud from your iPad version of Express Invoice using either Google Drive or Dropbox. This can be done even if you have no data, and must be completed first in order to set the versioning for archiving from the iPad, and establishing the archive file.
2) Create a local backup from your desktop version. This will create a dated backup folder structure with sub-folders and files within the structure.
3) Zip the desktop backup folder structure (select all files and folders) to an archive called “invoice.zip”.
4) Replace your iPad cloud archive “invoice.zip” file with the file you just created from your desktop backup.
5) Use Tools>Restore on your iPad to restore the invoice.zip file from the cloud – Google Drive or Dropbox whichever you used to create your iPad archive initially.
This process also works in reverse if you unarchive your iPad backup file “invoice.zip” to your desktop, and then Restore to your desktop version of Express Invoice from that unarchived folder structure.
Again this manual method is unsupported by NCH Software, use at your own risk.
