I'm trying to assemble several clips into a sequence.
Each clip overlaps the next for several seconds.
For example, I have the following clips:
Clip 1 "I detest newbies they"
Clip 2 "they are a pain in the rump."
These two clips have the word "they" as overlap.
I added both clips into my first sequence to get sequence 1, so now sequence 1 contains the overlap common to the end of clip 1 and the begining of clip 2, ie...
Sequence 1 "I detest newbies they they are a pain in the rump."
Next I set my Clip Out in Clip 1 to the point between "newbies" & "they" (Clip Out: 0:14:49.0) expecting Clip 1 to now play as:
Clip 1 "I detest newbies"
But it doesn't. It still plays as "I detest newbies they", ie it runs full length (with full length being 0:14:57.7).
I also expected that since I had set the Clip Out point in Clip 1 to eleiminate the overlapping word "they", that sequence 1 would now play back without the overlapping section, as in...
Sequence 1 "I detest newbies they are a pain in the rump."
But again, it doesn't. It still plays as:
"I detest newbies they they are a pain in the rump."
What I thought was, that using "Clip Out" is how you remove the overrun in a clip. In other words a clip of lenght 0:14:57.7 would start playing at the begining 0:00:00.0 (if Clip In is not set), it would then play to the Clip Out point 0:14:49.0, stop, and thereby allow the next clip in the sequence to start playing. Evidently this isn't the case, and my understanding of what Clip In/Out does is faulty.
Could somebody please set me straight on this? If what I described isn't what Clip In/Out is supposed to be used for, what IS it supposed to be used for?
If this IS what Clip In/Out is supposed to be used for, and what I've tried should have worked, then does anyone have suggestions as to what to try next?
