(1) Click "Find Item".
(2) Type in your search term.
(3) It will select the first matching item in the list.
(4) Press F3 to find the next matching item.
You can file a user suggestion to add a search box next to the filter boxes as a more convenient alternative to the existing search functionality. Maybe instead of finding items one at a time like the "find item" functionality, the search box could behave like the filters and only show items that match the search.
